Simply the best cake shop in the city! Empire Cake has now made 2 custom cakes for us, one of which was to celebrate my fiancés birthday/job and one to celebrate our engagement. They worked with me on design for the Google cake and created the exact same ring box that my Tiffany engagement ring has. They also worked in a tightened deadline because I forgot about my own party! The employees are always friendly and their artistic work cannot be matched. Can’t wait to order our next cake! Maybe we will order our wedding cake here too!

Empire cake is never a disappointment. The black and white cookies are so delicious and are a family favorite. Today we also got the rainbow cake and that was also amazing. The bakery had a hocus pocus themed cake that really showed off their decorating skills

They kindly let me buy to go at 9:01pm (technically after close)while other customers finished their order. The vanilla snowball was a delicious way to wind down at the end of a long day! $6.25 with all tax and tip.

Cute little pastry shop we found today. They have a lot of options, but the raspberry lemon cupcake was my favorite so delicious, the combination of flavors really well balanced, the cappuccino was good too. They also have super cute candles, birthday cards, cake toppers everything you need for a last minute birthday party. The staff is super friendly! If I’m in the are I’ll definitely come back!

Exceptional experience from start to finish. The staff were incredibly accommodating, especially considering our previous baker had canceled at the last minute and we were working with a small budget. Despite the short notice, they delivered beyond our expectations. We chose a passion fruit flavored cake, and it was an absolute hit. Even guests who don't usually have a sweet tooth were going back for seconds and thirds. We were also impressed by the stunning designs in their display case. *The cake topper was ordered and added separately. Highly recommend them for any occasion!

mind blowing butter frosting. the one we ordered was moist vanilla crème fraîche cake filled and frosted with vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream with rainbow sprinkle. meringue butter cream is gorgeous.

Empire Cake has made two awesome cakes for my step daughter’s birthday two years in a row. Their staff are super friendly, pay careful attention to detail, and really work to ensure complete customer satisfaction. Love working with Empire and can’t wait for more years of delicious and creative cakes!

I love this bakery!!! I ordered a custom cake here for my birthday and it was a dream come true and made the event so special. I reached out online with some very random, unformed ideas and the bakers were able to help me land on the exact cake I envisioned. The price was VERY fair for what I got especially considering it’s NYC. Payment was easy and the cake was ready on-time the day of! I had previously reached out to a lot of Instagram bakers but I’m really glad I ultimately went with Empire Cake. I work across the street and my coworkers and I always grab team snacks and treats from the counter here. Everything tastes as good as it looks!

Hard frosted black and white cookie was very delicious. Banana foster cupcake is great too. Definitely coming back for the cookie

I have a love/hate relationship with Empire Cake. It would be hard to miss this bakery as you walk along 8th avenue. In one window you can see inside to see beautiful cookies and cakes. In a different window you can see samples of their incredible cakes. They rotate the designs often, but they usually have at least one that is seasonal (think a cake with a cute turkey on it for Thanksgiving) while others are more kid oriented like a Minion or Pokemon cake. Everything they produce at this bakery is an absolute work of art and I am constantly amazed at their skill. I also give this bakery high marks for service. They are very good at answering questions about their baked goods and they are always super nice. So...if I'm talking this place up so much, why the "love/hate"? Simply because Empire Cakes once produced one of the most delicious baked goods I've ever had in my life on the regular, and then they stopped making it regularly. Specifically I'm talking about one of their incredible snack cakes. The snack cakes are their specialty (besides amazing multi-layer character cakes) resembling large Twinkies with amazing frosting on top. In my opinion, the BEST of these is their Chocolate Peanut Ganache snack cake. There was a time you could get this cake fairly regularly, but nowadays it is only seasonal (seemingly only for a few weeks starting in late March/early April). Unless you show up *just* at the right time, you miss this confection for a whole year. I've missed it two years in a row and then this year I was ecstatic to find them! I bought tons of them but before I knew it they were gone by mid-May. Oh well...hopefully I'll catch them again next year.
